Frankincense: Energetic Medicine for Balance

As Christmas approaches, I think of the Magi who gave gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh, and gold to baby Jesus. Frankincense is a general nervous system tonic and likely it was used topically to support the baby Jesus. Myrrh is antiseptic and was likely used to prevent infection of umbilicus.

With a history of over 5,000 years and over 200 chemical constituents, Frankincense is a staple among many essential oil users. Because of all the different chemical compounds it contains, it is an incredibly versatile oil. Many call it their "desert island" oil, because it's the one oil they would take with them to a desert island if they had to choose.

If I were stranded on a desert island, and got a cut or wound, I would apply Frankie to speed healing and reduce scarring. Let's say I have arthritis and I need something to reduce the pain and inflammation so I can hobble around and search for food, I'd apply Frankie to my joints. Or, I just like to keep my skin healthy and glowing for when I return to civilization, I'd rub Frankie on my face.
